Winter Wedding | The Engineer’s Club

February 15th, 2010

The Engineer’s Club is the perfect place for a cozy, romantic, winter wedding.  From it’s quaint historic rooms, to it’s warm fireplaces - it is a local gem tucked away on a Mt. Vernon side street.  Check out a few of our favorite images from this recent January wedding.

Some of my top picks from a portrait shoot we did a couple months ago.  Amazing what you can do with minimal props and a messy bed!!!  My favorite way to shoot!

Blandfield - The Wedding Day | Part II

January 20th, 2010

Following an eventful evening of celebration at the Lodge for their rehearsal dinner, Megan & Philip’s wedding day was as perfect as they come.  Not only were they blessed with beautiful weather, but the day was filled with probably the most laughter and love that I’ve ever witnessed.  This was a party to remember!

Blandfield Rehearsal Dinner | Part I

January 8th, 2010

Megan and Philip are a unique couple…they seem to be magnetic.  What I mean by this, is that I have never experienced an event with so many close friends present, especially at a destination wedding where literally every attendee traveled a long distance to celebrate this special day, nearly 350 were present.

Their weekend started with a Spanish influenced rehearsal dinner at the Hunting Lodge, located along the Rappahannock River on 3,500 acres.  Philip’s father is from Spain, as were many of the guests, so paella and sangria, along with a multitude of other savory dishes, filled the night’s air with the intoxicating smell of garlic and seafood. (Catered by Emilio’s in Richmond)

Their guests were the entertainment for the night, as each came prepared with a skit, song, or story about the couple.  Laughter echoed long into the evening as each presentation seemed better than the last…

Koda | our beast of a sweetheart

January 8th, 2010

Koda is a pure-bread American Staffordshire Terrier (Amstaff).  A breed very closely related to the Pitbull.  We bought him two years ago from the same breeder who gave us Mugwai, our alpha-male-runt, who is now chasing squirrels somewhere in heaven.

Koda is anything but an alpha, he loves any other dog who will give him the time of day and will graciously submit, when need be.  Koda’s favorite place is on our bed, day or night.  Usually on my pillows, where he builds his ‘nest.’  He is high-energy, but a gentle soul, a cuddler - not a fighter.  He buries his food and bones by throwing imaginary dirt over them with his nose.  He barks at his own reflection.  He chases his tail.  He talks in his sleep and snores loudly most nights….he is loyal, loving, and willing to please.

I share his photos with you so that those who know him only by a name or a stereotype, can see what a dog looks like who has been so misunderstood and vilified by our society.  Does he look like a monster to you?…

Family Portraits

October 18th, 2009

It is always so much fun to return year after year to document a growing, changing, family.   I love the trust and lead-way my clients give me, to document their children’s lives thru my eyes…it is very cool to do what you love and make a living at it…very cool.  Thank you to those families who invite me into their homes time and time again and allow me to “do my thing,” as the years go by…
